Dr. Donahue Tuitt ( is joined by actress Ann Cusack (Grimm, Nightcrawler, A League of Their Own) to discuss how entertainment can empower, inspire and change communities.

ANN CUSACK has carved out an acting career marked by diversity. She can go from playing a district attorney in The Informant to an alcoholic mother looking for her son on the CBS television show Criminal  Minds to an ordinary housewife in Brotherhood of Poland New Hampshire.  She moves easily from one medium to the next.

Born in Manhattan, New York  but raised in Evanston, IL she started training in improvisation and Story theater with Joyce and the Late Bryne Piven at the age of 9 years old. She received her Bachelors Of Fine Arts from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Her big “break” came when Penny Marshall cast her in the feature film A League of Their Own as the illiterate ball player “Shirley Baker”. She hasn’t stopped working since.

She has been seen in films such as Nightcrawler, Sensation of Sight as David Straighten’s wife, Accepted, What Planet Are You From,  Multiplicty, and  HBO’s critically acclaimed Earth To The Moon as Jan Armstrong. She has shared the screen with her siblings John and Joan Cusack in such films as Grosse Pointe Blank, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and America’s Sweethearts.

Her televisions credits range from lead, series regulars and guest arcs on  show such as Scandal, Castle, Fargo, Master of Sex, Body of Proof , Private Practice, Harry’s Law, The Unit, Grey’s Anatomy. In Plain Sight, Brothers and Sisters,  HBO’s Little Britain, Army Wives, Boston Legal, Ghost Whisperer, Bones. Six Feet Under, One Tree Hill, The Jeff Foxworthy Show. The Brotherhood of Poland New Hampshire and carried the show Maggie for Lifetime Network.

You can see her on the upcoming series Grimm and the film Sully to be released later this year.  She sing the blues in clubs in and around Los Angeles.

Whether is it is sit-com, hour long, independent, or studio film, network or cable television Ann has worked in all formats, styles, and genres.

Donahue began his career in entertainment in 1994 when he secured the leading role in a film on his first audition. Nearly twenty years later he is honored to be afforded the opportunity to oversee the film and television operations for Lighted Pathway Productions. Upon graduating from the University of Maryland at College Park Donahue began teaching 7th and 10th grade and worked on Wall Street. His passion for people and business acumen are what strengthen his ability to lead an entertainment company in Hollywood where both the ability to connect with people and a strong sense of the financial bottom line are essential for success. Since arriving in Los Angeles he has built Lighted Pathway Productions into a leading company for film and television projects. Staying connecting to his target audience by traveling across the U.S. and the Caribbean keeps him ahead of the curve when it comes to delivering content that is fresh and relevant. He awareness of grassroots trends has opened doors to work for companies such as: MTV, CBS, Axe Bodyspray, BET and a host of others.

In addition to leading Lighted Pathway Productions Donahue furthered his education, which he believes has enhanced his worldview as a Writer and Director. He completed his Master’s degree by 23 from Pepperdine University, and earned a doctorate degree in only two years from the University of Southern California in Educational Administration. Upon graduating from U.S.C. he was hired as a Professor in the school of Education serving on the faculty of the top 5 Educational Administration program in America. The unique blend of entertainment and education is uncommon but not unfamiliar for trendsetters in Hollywood. Dr. Tuitt’s path is one carved out by the great Bill Cosby who also earned his doctorate in Education. While one can see Bill Cosby’s inspiration in Donahue’s work, his voice is certainly unique and fresh in today’s world of entertainment.

Dr. Tuitt’s career as a Hollywood writer began early when he sold his first storyline for an episode to a popular CBS drama at the age of 23. The episode earned two Emmy nominations and received one win, which solidified Donahue as a rising talent in Hollywood. Donahue went on to write, produce and direct several independent feature films: Marriage Prep and Matchups. The films traveled to film festivals around the country and garnered great reviews, including Audience Choice Awards. Upon the success of Lighted Pathway Productions early films Donahue received the 2007 National Association of Television Program Executives Diversity Fellowship Award for being one of 20 outstanding up and coming minority producers, and was recruited to produce family and faith based films for the straight to home video market. Before finalizing the straight to home video deal, Donahue was recruited to work more exclusively in television. In addition to developing shows for Lighted Pathway Productions he produced several shows for Black Entertainment Television – including The Family Crews starring Terry Crews of Everybody Hates Chris and the Expendables, Sunday Best with Gospel Icons Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, and Mary Mary. “Excluding my own films, Sunday Best is definitely one of the projects that will stay with me forever. It married my love for television with my faith and afforded me the opportunity to travel the country and meet some amazing people who loved God, loved life and truly wanted to use their gifts to inspire others.” The hard work on Sunday Best yielded some great fruit for the entire team when it received the 2011 N.A.A.C.P. Image Award for Outstanding Production of a Reality Series. His years of success, tireless work ethic, and inspiring demeanor has given birth to the nickname “GetDon2it!”

While continuing to lead Lighted Pathway Productions to the future Dr. Tuitt has helped corporate leaders in business, multimedia, education, and religious institutions across the world go to another level. He has been invited to shares inspirational messages which enlighten and empower individuals and organizations to develop their purpose and a blueprint to fulfill their goals.  Whether it’s producing great film and television programs or public speaking Dr. Tuitt’s mission is “To help others step back and get a better understanding of how what they do impacts their overall effectiveness in life.
