Comcast’s Kira Karlstrom and ABC Entertainment Marketing’s Lucas Aragon team up to discuss design that elicits emotion, consistency across platforms and ways to unlock inspiration.


Lucas Aragón

Design Director, ABC Entertainment Marketing

Creative professional with 20+ years experience leading design and marketing departments at major television networks and creative agencies. He has worked on two network launches (OWN and National Geographic Channel) and numerous rebrands.

Lucas is originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico and studied Graphic Design and Television Production at Eastern New Mexico University, where he still mentors students. Lucas is an active member with PromaxBDA and has served on the Board of Directors and as a mentor for the organization’s various programs.

Currently he is the Design Director for ABC Entertainment Marketing. This is his second time working for the network.  The first being in 2004-08.  He has also worked at Lifetime and various local television stations. He’s won BDA, Promax, Telly Awards and a Local Emmy.  When he’s not working or watching television, he enjoys traveling and seeing the world.

Kira Karlstrom

Director of Marketing Communications, Comcast Corporate

An Emmy award winning animation, live action, and broadcast television Producer with over eight years of experience. She has Produced, Directed, Managed, and Art Directed multiple show animation packages, features, photo-shoots, and commercials from initial concept through final production.

Kira is originally from Clarkston, Michigan and was an honors graduate in Graphic Design from Drexel University in 2007.

Before joining Arsenal FX, Kira helped develop and manage Marvel Entertainment’s newest division of the company, Live Events. She was responsible for client/vendor relationships and the creative, marketing, and branding of MARVEL IP through initiatives such as Disney Attractions, Theme Parks, Broadway Productions, Live Touring Arena Shows, and Museums viewed yearly by over 3 million people. Kira also Produced and Directed the MARVEL/SONY consumer product photo-shoot for 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man featuring Jamie Foxx, Andrew Garfield, and Emma Stone.

Prior to Kira’s career at MARVEL, she was a six-time Sports Emmy nominated Associate Producer/Art Director at ESPN. She produced and directed over 20 high-end network animation packages and over 15 live action productions while working with first-class talent, artists, and athletes including Big & Rich, B.O.B., Dwight Howard, and Hope Solo. Other projects include Emmy Award Winning 2013 Global X-Games Re-Brand, 2012 EURO Cup, 2011 Women’s World Cup, 2010 Men’s World Cup, the ESPYs, NBA, MLB, SportsCenter, Longhorn Network, College GameDay and Monday Night Football to name a few. She also spent two years as the sole coordinator of all ESPN’s sales and marketing custom commercial/animations within Creative Services.

In addition to her experience with MARVEL and ESPN, Kira has been Freelance Producing, Designing and Creative Consulting for companies such as Big Star NYC, The Ether, CBS Studios, ESPNW and WISE (Women’s in Sports and Events).

  • Is a Cancer Motivational Speaker for the Jimmy V Foundation & Coaches vs. Cancer.
  • Salutatorian Award recipient for an Entertainment Business Masters Degree from Full Sail University.
  • 2009 Contestant on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance”.
  • Lead the Nation in Rebounding for sub 5’5 Guards at Drexel in the 2006-2007 Season.
  • Played One Season of Women’s Professional Football as a Quarterback with the New England Nightmare.
  • Designer of ESPN’s Scott VanPelt Show logo ad the ESPN Axis logo.
  • Former Radio Color Commentator for Drexel University Women’s Basketball.
